This cute pillow is made with one Moda Cupcake Mix Recipe pack, one charm pack, and some yardage. The Cupcake Mixes are so fun to use, and make cutting and piecing easy peasy. I will also show you how to quilt the pillow front, and give you tips for constructing the pillow that you will use over and over.

So gather up a seasonal or other happy charm pack and join us for this quick and easy project!

Fabric & Supplies Required:

One charm pack with at least 18 medium/dark charm squares and 8 light charm squares
18 5-inch squares of medium/dark fabric and 8 5-inch squares of light fabric
½ yard coordinating background fabric
¾ yard for back of pillow (can be the same as the background fabric)
24-inch piece of fabric for quilting of pillow top (this won’t show so you can use muslin, a plain piece of white cotton, etc)
24-inch piece of batting
¼ yard for binding, if you wish to bind the pillow (optional)
1 Moda Cupcake Mix Recipe #4 (can be found at quilt shops, or ordered at – make sure you get Recipe #4)
Sewing machine (preferably with a walking foot for quilting)
Spray basting glue (I will bring some, so if you don’t have any, no problem)

Cutting Instructions:

Along with the 5 inch squares described above, cut 10 - 5 inch squares from the background fabric
Also from the background fabric cut:
2 – 1 ½ x 18 ½ inch strips
2 – 1 ½ x 20 ½ inch strips
From pillow back fabric cut:
2 – 20 ½ x 26 ½ inch pieces
